As a travel agent, I not only stay up to date on destinations, promotions and travel methods, I make sure that you know about changes that will affect your travel. If you are planning on travel to Europe in 2024 or beyond, be advised that the European Union will require visitors to apply with ETIAS – European Travel Information and Authorization System – to enter any member country. It is not a visa, but rather a request for a visa waiver to enter. It is similar to the US ESTA and Canadian eTA process already required for non-US and Canadian citizens to enter the country.
Plan on applying at least 96 hours prior to departure, but actually you should secure authorization prior to purchasing travel to Europe. ETIAS is valid for 3 years from date of issue and can be used for multiple entries under a 90 day duration.
